The entity of Jemeppe-sur-Sambre lies at the meeting point of two regions: Hesbaye and the industrial valley of the Sambre. While the north has retained its rural aspect (Spy, Onoz, Balâtre and Saint-Martin), the south is marked by the presence of a great many companies (Jemeppe, Ham, Moustier and Mornimont). The Man of Spy cave is the main tourist attraction. Four listed monuments can be seen from the public highway: the fortified farm of Balâtre, the donjon of Villeret (Saint-Martin), Mielmont castle (Onoz) and the old Onoz water collection station, which houses the Man of Spy exhibition centre on Neanderthal man.

Among the picturesque sites are the old square in Moustier, the woods of Ham and the old branches of the Sambre river in Mornimont and Ham.
